Default Converter Amps Required??

Hi Guys. Does anyone know how many amps this light kit pulls? I assumed a 10amp converter would be plenty for lights and a state of charge meter. However, I received the light kit today and it comes with a 20 amp fuse. That leads me to believe it operates in the 12-15 amp range, but I can not find any information on the system.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Headlights could be 55w each, tail lights could be 10w each and brake lights could be 15w each.
SOC meter uses 0 amps.
Total of that load is about 150w / 12v = 12.5amp.
Without brake lights it would be about 10 amps +/-.

Thanks Doug - That's what I was afraid of - Looks like I'll be returning the converter for a higher amp rating.

I noticed you don't have brake lights and you may have low intensity headlights. If so your amperage could be as low as 8-9.

I can't find the replacement bulbs on the site either. I may pull them tomorrow and see if their power rating is on there.

Anything particular to look for in converters? Other than amperage rating? Thanks

They are fairly expensive but LED replacement bulbs for tail and brake and turn would give you lots of leaway as they only draw tens of amps rather than 5-10 amps. I dont know of any LED replacement for head lights unless you have H-3 bulbs or 7" round headlights. Check web sites for LED lights.

I could return the light kit I have and get an entire LED kit for another $40 or so??

BDMONIST-- If you can find a ( COMPLETE LED LIGHT KIT "HEAD AND TAIL LIGHTS" for only $40.00 MORE I would jump at them. Also where did you find them for others out there that might want them please post.
I had 55 watt each headlights and 12 watt tail lights and 17 watt turn-stop lights, and with LED's Im only pulling about 25 watts total.
I dont use a converter-reducer after a friend lost his NEW 2003 cart in a fire caused by one that shorted out. If you install a unit wire it so its TURNED OFF FROM BATTERY PACK when not in use. I use a cheaper method of adding a small handicaped scooter battery and run all accessories off it. Being small 7.7"X 5.5"X 7.5" I even just threw it in glove box for years before mounting it solid.

Looks like only the markers and tail lights are LED, not the head lights. - $30 more than the non_LED kit posted above.

Its still a bargain as it should include the correct flasher and bulbs for LED. I didnt see that it included a LED style electronic flasher but I would check as it alone is expensive. With standard flasher there isnt enough draw to make it flash so you would need an electronic unit.
GOOD LUCK ON YOUR LIGHTS AS YOU WILL ENJOY THEM.
