Stuck Back Driver Side Wheel Drum
We have a 2004 electric Club Car. For about two months, a rubbing sound has been noted in the back left wheel. At first, only every so often, then, about a week ago, it was continuous and a fine blackish powder notice on the sidewalk. I initially thought that it might be a brake grinding down. We got the wheel off but we cannot get the drum hub off. We've tried a hammer and 3-prong pulley puller. The car is in great shape and there is barely any grim/rust or the like on the drum. The drum can be moved back and forth (about 1/2 inch) but will not come off. Any ideas?

Disconnect the cable and adjust the shoes back away from the drum. The CC have an auto brake adjuster that tends to over do it...

Re: Stuck Back Driver Side Wheel Drum
Sounds like you may have a drum replacement in your future, as the black powder may be drum metal. If your very lucky it will only be the shoe lining broken off and grinding up against the sides of drum not braking area. Dont forget to check BOTH BRAKES as the other one may be in near like condition.
Be sure to put solid stands of some kind under axle while working and have front wheels block so no movement is possible. Lost a old friend when a cheap jack stand let go and crushed him, remember that an electric cart weighs near a 1000 lbs. |

If loosening the auto adjust doesn't do the trick for you try applying heat to the drum this will make the drum expand a little bit and then you can pull it off with the 3 prong puller or tap it off with a hammer. I have used this trick with success many times.

Re: Stuck Back Driver Side Wheel Drum
If you have to use strong means to get drum off I would replace all shoe hold down parts and springs as well as shoes etc, its a good idea anyway. Used to be available as a kit with all needed parts?
