Default Newbie Really Dumb ?? But I'm lost

Ok

Just purchased my first cart its a 48v year 2000

Had to buy today the little screw on ball ends that links the rod from the accelerator pedal to the potentiometer (if thats the correct name). Anyway all is running etc however my question is this

When i have the forward and reverse switch in say the forward position i have to put my foot fully forward on the accelerator pedal to stay still and release it backwards to get the cart to move in a forward motion. Then the opposite when the switch is in the reverse position to move the cart backwards i have to press down on the pedal. My garage rear wall is a mess pics to follow.

Would i be correct in saying the forward and reverse switch are wired opposite to what it should be (reverse polarity) or is this how golf carts work if so i need some counseling it frightened the crap out of me

well congrats on the new cart....although I guess it hasn't been a real good first day of ownership huh ? So was it the last one you posted the link for that you bought ? I guess if you talked them down on price you might not have come out any better with the cost of sheetrock, mud, and paint....

Get some pics up so these guys can get you rolling.....OUT the door ! Sorry man, I will probably end up running through my door now.

Sorry

as for it working properly prior, the answer is no in that in forward if you press your foot down it would take off like a rocket, press it down further it would slow down. Also the guy said the pedal kept sticking down. But i found it wasnt the return spring that he said, it was the rod ends that were mashed up. So thats when i put the new ones on and adjusted them so that it cured the sticking down pedal. The pedal wasnt actually sticking, the little bit of play in it and not adjusted correctly rod ends was causing the potentiometer to still be on
