Default Need help with pinout for Curtis 1510 controller.

Hi,

I recently bought a Curtis 1510A-5250 controller, with an EJ4-4001 motor, to use in a custom chassis I am building. I am trying to figure out the pinout for the controller so that I can wire it up.

Curtis seems to offer no documentation for this controller. Their current 1266 controller, for which they do offer a manual, has the same layout/format of plugs and tabs, but I don't know that the pinouts match.

The pinout in the wiring schematic here on the site for later 48V Club Cars with regen, from which this controller would have come (the 1510 series was in 2001+ Precedent IQs, I believe) is totally different from the 1266.

So, basically, I am fishing for any hard information on the wiring of a 1510 series controller. If someone can confirm that this diagram,

the 1266 diagram or some other diagram is correct, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jesse.

Email Curtis, controllerquestions@curtisinst.com they're pretty good at getting back to you with help.

Doug,

Yeah, I actually e-mailed Curtis at that address before posting here to the board. It's now been 2 weeks and I haven't heard a peep. In your experience, is patience the key? From other posts, it seems like other people actually don't have much luck getting any information from Curtis.

Thanks,

Jesse.

Come to think of it, it took a week for them to get back to me. The economy and everyone doing 2 jobs now might be slowing them down.

Hi,

I just wanted to check again to see if anyone had a manual or diagram for this controller.

I am willing to pay for this information.

Thanks,

Jesse.

Oh, man, Scubabud, you've gotten me 90% of the way there. But, the diagram craps out right at the critical point: where the wires connect to the controller. Is there an inset or table somewhere that indicates which wire number/color goes to which pin on the 16-position plug into the controller?

Many thanks,

Jesse.

I'm afraid that's all I have. If you blow it up and follow the leads you can see the color of the wires though. Sorry I couldn't give you a better schematic.

I will pay a $20 reward to the first person who can provide the pinout of a 1510(A)-5250 controller. What I need to know is where each of the pins on the 16-position plug goes.

I've been trying to find this information for months and have found nothing on the boards, from Curtis or elsewhere on the Internet.

Thanks for your help, Scubabud! Your diagram is very helpful.

Best,

Jesse.

Hello, all,

For those who are interested, I've uploaded a diagram of my super-simplified wiring harness for the Curtis 1510 line of sepex motor controllers as a PDF here. Also, for those wanting instant gratification:

I made this schematic because I wanted to run the motor and controller independently of the Club Car Precedent IQ that they came off of.

My diagram eliminates the OBC and just about everything else that isn't necessary to make a smooth-running vehicle with these components.

I've run it for about an hour at 48V and everything seems to be working perfectly. The only thing I have yet to do is some charging.

I hope this is of use to someone out there.

Best,

Jesse.
