Rebuilding bat holding area
What size aluminum (thickness) do I buy to replace the old pieces in the battery area for a 91 CC?
Don't have a TIG, so I'm going to have to cut the old stuff out and bolt the new pieces in. Figure beveled whole with flat top/beveled bolts should do just fine. |

Re: Rebuilding bat holding area
yeah, You don't want anything that will wear a hole in the battery case...... I think 1/8th inch or 3/16ths, 1.5 x 1.5. the thicker you get it the longer it will last..... use aluminum or stainless fasteners

Re: Rebuilding bat holding area
Thanks, scottyb.
I will look into getting fasteners that will hold them in place. |

Re: Rebuilding bat holding area
I used aluminum rivets and aluminum angle from Lowes. Works great.

I did the same thing, pop rivets and aluminum angle from Lowes. Worked out good.

Re: Rebuilding bat holding area
The thicker peices would allow for a better countersink.

Re: Rebuilding bat holding area
Thanks, everyone. We just had a Lowes open up here in the area last year, Forgot all about it until you mentioned it in the post.
Once I get the batt area rebuild, the fun stuff starts with upgrading to 48V. |

Re: Rebuilding bat holding area
I used to buy aluminum angle at Lowes until I found it at the metal recycle/salvage yard for about 1/3 the price
