If its an electric cart it takes 22oz. of 30wt oil,if its gas it takes 27oz. of 80w90. if you on the back of the rear end you will see the drain and fill holes, one on top and one on bottom. It takes a 9/16 socket to remove them.

I asked a similar question awhile back for my 83 electric a everyone told me to put 30w in. I finally got a cd manual for 81-85 and it said to use 80w90. That's what was in it. After a flush out with kero I refilled with Lucas gear oil until it ran out full check plug on side. They may be right about 30w for some models, but I went with the manual just to be safe. It's hard to find old rearends.

You may have misunderstood us or got some errant advice because we always follow the manuals, which clearly states, all of the major 3 carts take 30w motor oil except the CC gas carts

THat's cool ribby but he was asking about a gas cart. A DS gas uses 85-90 gear oil ..... Funny thing is that when we compare 85-90 gear oil and 30wt motor oil we actually found very little viscosity difference So a mistake would really be be no big deal .......

Your manual says that and I saw it. Did Club Car change lubes when they changed differentials? I don't know. The one I read from was revised dated 3-15-83 and reprinted 7-86. Don't know the years on yours, I just went by what I read in mine for 1983 electric. It doesn't even cover gas, only electric. I can't figure how to get page off a pdf. or I would post it too.

You know I dont think it would make that much difference as they dont run that fast anyway.I just would not go with anything to thick. As clubcar emerged they found out that 30wt would be just fine especially in colder climates. Its jst like stirring maple syrup in a bowl, its easier when its HOT.
