Question 2001 installed new mcor, now wont do anything

hi - a little background on how i got where i am...

'inherited' my '01 clubcar. it had only been used a couple times in the last 3 years. it had new batteries put in a couple years ago. last year it had a couple eroded wires replaced.

when i got it, drove it a few minutes, ran fine. got in it later that day, it started out ok but lost power pretty quick. if i let up on the gas then push it back to the floor, it would gain power, but then loose it. didn't drive it for a couple months after that.

got in it last weekend, it drove fine for a few hundred feet, then started to slow down. every time i pressed the gas pedal it would move a couple feet then stop (took forever to get back home lol).

called the guy who worked on it last and he said i needed a new mcor. i installed the new mcor today and now it wont do anything. i uninstalled it, had the hubby press on the gas so i could make sure the rod was sitting properly, verified that it was turning when the gas pedal was pressed, retightened everything back up and it still wont do anything.

any ideas? thank you so much for any help - oh, and i really dont know very much about golf carts, so if you could speak in layman's terms that would be wonderful

series carts have a fwd/rev handle and no run tow switch. a regen has a f/r handle and the run tow switch or the rocker f/r switchand run tow toggle. just thought you might wanted to know. and i have a '01 cc too.

from your description i believe it is a regen

(and i meant corroded wire, not eroded, and i do still have another corroded connection on 1 of the batteries)

edit to add - there is quite a bit of play w/ the rod that sticks into the mcor, i'm not sure if that is supposed to be the case? it still turns when the gas pedal is pressed tho.

we are not sure of the volts - i will have to try and figure that out tomorrow - we can't tell just by looking @ them.

the mcor looks the same as the one i took off and i was told by the parts guy where i got it (golf cart dealer) that there is only 1 mcor possible for my cart?

i really know very little, thank you for being so patient :)

Reading this.....The batteries sound depleted ???? You can not make repairs on an electric vehicle without a voltmeter...... Check the battery pack voltage and post it's voltage here...... Just reading the history you posted makes me suspect the pack is dead.

thank you wilster :)

scottyb - couple questions/comments for you:
should the amperes reading on the charger be a certain number? i'm not sure of its purpose.

the repair guy who replaced the wires told us that the batteries were fine (this was only a few months ago). they seem to get a full charge (going by the display on the dash and the lights working).

we do not have a voltmeter, but can go pick one up tomorrow. i assume we will have to check each battery separately?

thank you again!! much appreciated :)
