Default battery replacement

guys,

back in january I started having some issues with my 2006 trojan batteries. After reading and posting we determined it was time for a new set of batteries. so....

local dealer recommends US batteries as opposed to trojans because of what he has seen/learned/read about the short 12v trojan battery life.

From what I read I think everybody still goes with trojan.

1. anybody running the US batteries and really like them compared to the trojans?

and I've also seen some posts on warranty replacement of batteries but no where do I see who to call.

2. Should i try calling Club Car about these 2006 batteries? Does anybody know where to call specifically about this? Or is this a long shot?

thanks for the help.

I would check with your local club car dealer, from what I have read on some of the posts the club car had a 4 year warranty on the batteries maybe yours would fit in that category, whether they do or not you will have to talk to a dealer club car will just refer you back to your local dealer if you call them.

1) US Battery, Trojan and Crown are all about the same in my book.

2) It's a long shot, and probably a waste of time.

I still stand by my several posts that the OBC's were bad in a lot of 04,05,06. Mine was replaced under warranty in July of 09' along with the batteries.(I am the 3rd owner)( I was also just a few days from being out of warranty, lucky I guess) The version number on my OBC now is 3.0. If I understand this correctly any version under that was to be replaced under warranty along with the batteries. The company that made the OBC evidently was not charging the batteries correctly there by ruining the batteries over a period of time. I called the Club Car distributor for the State of Wisconsin to get my info. I also do not know if you are out of the 4 year warranty if you will get a replacement for no charge. Am not sure who you would contact outside of Wis. I have a 05' Precedent. That's about all I know.

The US Batteries have not been in use by Club Car in these vehicles long enough yet to know the dependability of them at this time. As for the warranty... Club Car will replace them under warranty if your car is less than 4 years old and in fact they do test bad... Another key factor is the Energy Unit reading from the car. A car with a usage reading of over 16,000 (DS Car) or 20,000 (Precedent) is considered out of warranty. With it being an 06 I'd have to know the serial number because the week of manufacture is the factor, if in fact the energy unit reading is low enough to qualify for warranty. About the computer situation. The 3.0 is the newest computer for your battery configuration. I'm assuming you own a Precedent. If so, it's not hard to tell what version the computer is. Take off the controller cover and look at the tag on the computer... It'll either say V2.05, V2.06, or V3.0. The 2.05 computers were replaced with 2.06 computers when the problem was diagnosed. The 3.0 computers later came out but Club Car did not feel that there was enough difference in the 2.06 and the 3.0 to change them all again. The 2.06 will work fine, but the 2.05 can definitely be a problem. It's too late to have that repaired under warranty though. There's only a 3 year warranty on the car with the exception of batteries and chargers.

Dave, I believe this cart is a retired/off lease golf course DS model w/4x12v batteries that has extensive mods, lift, rear seat and big tires.
It's a beautiful cart but I'm not sure how it stacks up for warranty repairs as far as the factory is concerned.
Out of curiosity what stipulations does CC have when purchasing a cart from a golf course? And what about mods done to the cart?

Did you purchase the car directly from a golf course or was it from a dealer after they got the cars back from the course? They cover for 4 years from the date that the car was registered... Within reason of course... for example if you buy a car in 2005 and dont register it until 2009, don't expect them to warranty batteries until 2013... Send me your serial number and I'll look it up for you. About the mods..... I honestly do not know... every car we modify is an older rebuild car that's out of warranty anyways. I do know however that when I file a warranty claim they want to know what mods have been performed to the vehicle, so I'm sure there's something to that.

one more thing to keep in mind..... 16,000 energy units is your cut off for battery warranty as I stated before... Your larger tires are pulling more Energy Units from the car. I don't know how many energy units it's got but I'd be willing to bet it's expired... I was at a course today doing battery changeouts on 2007 Precedents and some of them had near 25,000... that should kind of give you an idea.
