Sparks generally indicate a bad connection. You may have a bad cable. It is always a good idea to change your cables when you change your batteries. I would also check again to see for sure that all the batteries are neg to pos all the way through the set. How is it acting like it won't take a charge?

Check the pack voltage, I'm not sure about club car but with ezgo's, the charger won't come on below a certain voltage.
I would double check the battery wiring for proper connections. It just sounds like a battery is in backwards.

Check small gage red wire that is connected to last battery to charger plug.

If you have sparks coming from #6 battery terminal there is an improper connection of some kind.

Look for loose cables in lugs, frayed wires, wire strands sticking out of lug, darkening around lugs
