Default 36v club car motor?

hello im new to this golf cart stuff but i recently bought a 03 Club Car 36v. I want to lift it and put 22" tires on it but it seems like it will be to weak for our hunting lease. I know the batterys are original so could that be a big reason why it seems weak? I would like to put new batterys and maybe a motor i just dont know what one i should buy? I dont care about the top speed just want the torque to go up hills. My friend has an 05 CC 48v with 22's on it and it seems so much more powerful. I just would like to know what id need to do to it to make it run like his? or maybe i should sell it and just get a 48v?
