DS is everything as far back as 1982 that CC built except the Precedents which i believe they started making 2004.5 ...
If your carts nose is a DS it will look like a rounded off square ..... if it is a precedent it will look like half a golf ball

lol I like that analogy... The precedent body panels are actually made of DuPont Surlyn, the same thing as a golf ball.

What's the serial number? The DS will begin with an A and the precedent with a P.

Hay thanks for the help on the DS.
How about a new question, Not so new for you guys im sure,
I need to replace all the batteries, They have dead cells and wont stay charged. I have 6- 8 volt batteries in it now. would it be better to run 8-6volt batters? If so why.

I have all new 4 g. wire ready to go on with the new batteries and I just read where someone had to drill out the ( what he thinks is just a cover for the OBS or OBC) to install them and now his cart wont charge.? is there something special about putting on new cables.

You'll benefit from 8 6 Volt batteries because you're adding more capacity to your system. The dimensions of the 6 and 8 volt batteries is the same... resulting in the exact same amount of capacity... However, by replacing those 6 8's with 6 6's and adding an additional w 6's... you're increasing your capacity by two batteries, but still maintaining 48V. A good discharge time on a Club Car discharge machine for a new set of 6 8's is 110-120 minutes. On the same 48V discharge machine, 8 6's will run somewhere around 160-180 minutes. You'd need to get another On-Board computer to properly charge them though. The standard computer isn't setup for that... Neither is the charger... Club Car offers what they call an "IQ PLUS" charger designed specifically for the 8 6-volt setup. Hope this helps.
