Default 36 volt system

I just purchased a used cart and it is a 36 volt system using 6 ea 6 volt batteries. I want to replace with 12 volt batteries, 3 in series. In that I have room I would like to install 6ea 12 volt, with 2 sets in series. I was going to use a "dual battery switch" so I could switch from battery 1 or 2 or both, but don't know if it is worth the time, trouble and expense for the switch.
Will my 36 volt battery charger handle 2 sets without the stitch?

Welcome to the forum!!!

I would discourage doing this. It won't save you any money over buying 6 - 6 volts and 3-12 volt batteries have 1/2 the runtime of 6 - 6 volt batteries. There is no advantages in doing this, stick with 6 - 6 volt batteries like the cart came with.
