Run Time Numbers and Need for New Batteries

Here are my stats:

1995 48v Powerglide Club Car
7.5 Inch Allsports Super Sport Lift
25" tires
Upgraded battery wiring to 1 gauge
Haven't upgraded remaining wiring yet. Plan to do this today
Stock motor and controller
Current top speed. 13MPH
Previous top speed was also 13mph before lift and larger tires.
Was expecting more on top speed.

Runtime study with battery conditions
Full charge and let sit for a couple of hours

Before any run time
all 6 batteries range from 8.31 to 8.41
50.1 volts total bank(90% according to table)

After 5 minutes runtime
all 6 batteries range from 8.17 to 8.29
49.5 volts total bank(70% according to table)

After 10 minutes total runtime(5 more mins)
all 6 batteries range from 8.12 to 8.27
49.2 volts total bank(about 60% according to table)

Now my first assumption is that I need new batteries. I assume if I keep testing within an additional 10-15 running I will be below my 50% charge threshold and need to charge batteries again. I plan to upgrade the remaining wiring this weekend to 2 gauge welding cable to get all the wiring optimal. I don't know if this will be noticed in my runtime or top speed but I know it needs to be done.

What do I need to do to get this cart running faster? I would love to see 20mph. Using the supplied information could someone recommend a list of what they would do to get this cart running faster and have adequate torque for the occasion small ditch crossing? This area is flat (Mississippi Delta) and this is a neighborhood cruiser/ golf course rider. I don't plan to offroad, just need the abilility to cross the occasional ditch or two if ever needed. Top speed is more important. There are a couple of gas burners here in the neighborhood that run circles around me. 20 mph top speed would surpass them easily as they are running stock setups. The cart is looking great but now I need to focus on the speed.

Swap in a 36v motor and you won't be dissappointedwith new batteries properly broke in you will hit that 18-20mph or more since you have 25'' tires .

OK so far changing to a 36volt motor and the obvious new batteries. this gives me something to look at.

What else? Would a new controller not be towards the top of the list?

Do you know what controller you have amperage wise? If it is 250 or more just changing the motor gets you what you want with new batts and cables 4ga or 2ga. My 2001 jumped from 15-16mph to 19-20mph with cables batts and 36v motor.

Thats the ticket and see what happens.Just find a used 36 volt motor.

Yeah. I have a stock controller, probably 200-250 amp. I have access to a 400 amp controller. Would that do me any good with or without the 36volt motor recommended?

Yeah would make an appreciable difference in torque mainly with a 400amp and 48v which is what you want to sustain the speed you are gonna get when pulling a load or 4 people in the cart.You might see a little speed gain with the bigger controller IDK.The ticket is going 400amp with the 36v motor,more performance on both ends then. Wish i had access to a 400amp like you. Money is tight so i will stick to my 225 right now.Good luck and keep us posted
