Charging problems. Blowing the circuit breaker....
I've had some problems with my golf cart for the last couple of years. The main problem has been charging the batteries.
I have a 2002ish Club Car and realized last year it was time for new batteries. When I got the new batteries installed from a local auto parts dealer that carries golf cart batteries they boiled whenever I tried to charge them. I had the cables replaced on the batteries and everything worked fine for awhile, but as of late last year I can not charge the batteries at all. When I plug them in it blows the circuit breaker on the charger. I've tried another charger from a friend and have determined it's a cart problem, not a charger problem. I live in a small town and have trouble getting service for the cart, but I'm not real handy with them myself. Is there a couple of easy things I can try to trouble shoot? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! |

What voltage is the cart 36 or 48?
What charger do you have? Are the batteries wired up correctly? (look in the sticky here, http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ery-wiring.htm) Are the battery cables in good shape with solid connections |

Could be a weak circuit breaker.

Re: Charging problems. Blowing the circuit breaker....
Thanks. I'll check the breaker and see if that does the trick.
This is a great resource. I'm sure i'll use it a ton in the future. |

Re: Charging problems. Blowing the circuit breaker....
I ordered a new breaker, installed it, and it didn't work. I checked the wiring according to the linked diagram and that seems to be OK as well. The cables and batteries are only a year old so I know they are in good shape.
Any other suggestions before I haul it off to a repair shop? |
