Default Charging problems. Blowing the circuit breaker....

I've had some problems with my golf cart for the last couple of years. The main problem has been charging the batteries.

I have a 2002ish Club Car and realized last year it was time for new batteries. When I got the new batteries installed from a local auto parts dealer that carries golf cart batteries they boiled whenever I tried to charge them. I had the cables replaced on the batteries and everything worked fine for awhile, but as of late last year I can not charge the batteries at all. When I plug them in it blows the circuit breaker on the charger. I've tried another charger from a friend and have determined it's a cart problem, not a charger problem.

I live in a small town and have trouble getting service for the cart, but I'm not real handy with them myself. Is there a couple of easy things I can try to trouble shoot? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

What voltage is the cart 36 or 48?
What charger do you have?
Are the batteries wired up correctly? (look in the sticky here, http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ery-wiring.htm)
Are the battery cables in good shape with solid connections

Could be a weak circuit breaker.

Here's a link to a thread that has a charger service manual 4 download. Might be of help. Look in the troubleshooting sections

I had one like that ..... circuit breakers do get weak from repeated tripping. They start to trip easy and then trip more often compounding the problem...... a new circuit breaker is cheap enough to just go ahead and try it

Thanks. I'll check the breaker and see if that does the trick.

This is a great resource. I'm sure i'll use it a ton in the future.

I ordered a new breaker, installed it, and it didn't work. I checked the wiring according to the linked diagram and that seems to be OK as well. The cables and batteries are only a year old so I know they are in good shape.

Any other suggestions before I haul it off to a repair shop?
