36v to 48V conversion ready for batteries

Well,
Thanks to all the folks out here and especially impalass 88, I'm all set for installing some 8v bat's to get this thing moving again..

I have a few little ends to tie up like the 12v block from my converter for lights and radio power, and connecting the reverse buzzer, but she is ready for batteries.

Batteries are being picked up Tuesday.

I went with US and got a pretty good deal on them for $115/@.

Here are some before and after pic's. What a different looking cart. I have some cosmetic things for the outside that will change her some. (Eagle decals with flames for the body and a new front chrome grill guard..

Looks good! Can tell you have put some time and strategy into this build. Keep up the good work and pics, the results are going to put a smile on your face!!!!

This thing has taken some time and I'm glad I did it to have a good and structurally sound cart that will run really well.

We use this thing all the time and have a rally to go to June 9-11.

The really cool thing I like is the on-board charging system. Carrying the old big one was a pain. Now all I need is an extension cord, a place to plug it in and I'm good to go..

Here is a pic before tearing it apart but after I had put the lift, tires, rear seat, new paint and new upholstery. Now it will look good and run even better..

NICE!!! Looks like it went together good for you.

I can't wait until you get to try it out (I'm sure you can't either). I am curious what the response of the stock motor will be on 48 volts. Keep us posted.

Will keep you posted. I changed my mind on the US bat's and have decided that the savings is not worth the time to go get them. I'm shopping around tomorrow to get some Trojan's. I should be able to find some. Maybe I can even find the T-890's.... :)

Well, I got new T-875's placed them all in & wired everything up and no sparks.

Turned the key on, put in forward, slowly stepped on peddle and solenoid closed and she started rolling forward.

Placed in reverse and stepped on peddle and solenoid closed and she started to roll backwards

Plugged in on board charger and system is charging now.

ROCK-N_ROLL!!!! Not a single wiring issue and everything appears to be working as required....

As soon as bat's finish charging, I'm putting the body on and taking her for a spin....

Sure does look a whole lot different than the old 36v resister cart...

Im in the middle of doing the same thing on two 36v resistor carts, one is already made into solid state but needs to be 48V, and the other has just started last week. can you tell me how much the batts are ? Mike

Battery cost are so different around the nation. It appears to be due to shipping cost. In my area T-875's run about $130 to $135. I bet where your at you can get them between $110 & $120. Just a guess.

I just came back from a test run after the batteries fully charged and charger shut off and I ran a consistent 20.4 MPH GPS AWESOME

Heck, I run about 14.4 MPH GPS on the hills that I used to slow to ~6 MPH.

In reverse the tires will chirp if I step on it to fast!!!

The controller manages the forward throttle up but lets the reverse just hall but..

Here are a few pic's.. Slowly coming back together. I have some bald eagle decals with orange flames that I will be installing on the sides and have a friend that will paint a bald eagle and flames on the front to match..

BTW, Sure would have been nice to have my backrest on so I could have relaxed while driving...
