Im in need for some new batt for my 04 club car. I can get interstae batt at cost. I have never used them before and have seen mixed reviews on here. Anyone have exp with these. also, are all of them made in mexico now like I read on here somewhere.?? thanks..

If you search, there have been alot of comparisons.
I think as long as you break them in properly, and take care of them, they should last you just fine.

Purchased four 12 volt Interstates May, 2009. Was told these were made by US Battery. Have tried to maintain them properly. Zero problems so far, but still early in the batteries' life.

I have both brands interstate and trojan batt in my garage....there are identical batt 105 Sams club sells interstate.

I recently replaced 6 batteries sold by Interstate, made by U S Battery that were 10 years old, with 6 more of the same in a 1995 DS cart. They were still going, but had to be recharged at frequent intervals.
Buy the Interstates by U S Battery! They are great!

Dont buy those Red Top Interstate cause they leak really bad.If you buy interstate get the better grade.

Golf Cart Battery Comparison

The following data may be helpful in comparing batteries among different manufacturers. Please keep in mind that only deep cycle batteries specifically designed for golf carts should be utilized in our carts. In fact, deep cycle "marine" type batteries will usually not work satisfactorily. And most certainly, automotive "starting" batteries should never be used in a golf cart. Using an incorrect battery will most likely result in short run times and early battery failure.

Misc. Info

Voltage on a fully charged battery in good condition will read 2.12 to 2.15 volts per cell (about 12.75 volts for a 12 volt battery, or 6.40 for a 6 volt)


Specific Gravity Readings to determine State of Charge:

12.75 & Above = 100% Charged
12.60 to 12.74 = 85 to 100% Charged
12.40 to 12.59 = 75 to 85% Charged
12.20 to 12.39 = 50 to 75% Charged
12.00 to 12.19 = 25 to 50% Charged
12.00 & Below = Fully Discharged


In both voltage and specific gravity readings, consistency among cells and among batteries is important.

OLD MEC

Locally there are some more than normal problems, ( 2 examples ) with both Sam's batterys and Interstate batterys both are advertised by Sam's as built by Interstate and the Interstate's from near by dealer?
Sam's batterys special ordered didnt take charge and found that 3 out of 6 batterys were defective, and all had same numbers for date? Interstate's after less than 6 months had very short charge life, and was unable to go more than 8 holes of golf and batterys dated supposedly less than 6 month apart. Local CC dealer replaced OBC and then replaced charger as bad. Battery voltage correct, hydrometer showed 3 batterys had weak cells, load test done and found 4 batterys questionable?
Limited info on US batterys doing well within price range as in one case 5 years and still doing good.
As comparison ( one Trojan battery ) out of 60 found defective after almost 18 months of shelf life before installation and after being left ( NO BREAK IN PERIOD, NO CHARGE AFTER INSTALLATION ) uncharged in cart over summer's 6 months.
