Default 2002 48 volt regen club car DS-OK to lift?

Club Car Guys,
I have a 2002 club car DS with regen that I need to sell to complete my 48 volt conversion to my EZ-G-O, but I WANT TO KEEP THEM BOTH!

I just like the feel of the club car better, the brakes are awesome, however it is not lifted yet.

I just had a non-lifted 2000 series ezgo 36 volt that I sold. This cart did not compare at all to the 02 club car in speed or torqe. Why? The club car is at least 3-4 mph faster, and the torque is a lot better.

I want to lift the club car and add a light kit if I keep it, but I have read that a series ezgo is the best choice for a lifted cart.

Is the regen an advantage or a disadvantage? If a disadvantage can I get rid of it easily? Does it really charge the batteries (enough to matter) when it is engaged?

What electrical parts will I need to upgrade to keep the torque with the lift and bigger tires? (Cart is completely stock and batteries are in good condition -6 eight volts-approx. 2 years old, well maintained.)

Picture of the lifted ezgo is to the left, and the club car is below. I have removed the golf club canopy, club bag holder and sand box.

Thanks!

Hey kdeerman!

I recently lifted my 04 CC using a Jakes 6" lift along with the Jakes wheelbase extension kit so that I could run 23" tires. It installed very easily and works great. To keep the torque and add speed, I installed a Plum Quick "purple" Bandit motor. I can actually accelerate uphill now! I have a rear seat and haul 2 adults and 2 kids a lot and the PQ motor was a great bang for the buck.

Here is a finished pic...

Thanks AMDnutt,
I went to the plum quick site and they mentioned regen removed. Is that something you had to do, or is it done in the new motor?
Did you buy the lift and tires as a package?

Bought the lift and tires as a package from Jakes along with the extension plate.

As for the Regen, PlumQuick removes it from the motor. No more "brake effect" when coasting! Free wheelin' downhill so make sure you have good brakes!
