? for the experts
I have a cc 48 volt. Last Sun am we drove it a 1/4 mi, golfed 9 holes, drove it back home the 1/4 mi. Parked it at home (didn't put the charger on) for about 2 hours, then drove it back the 1/4 mi., golfed 9 holes, and then back home the 1/4 mi. Put the charger on, and just happened to go out to the shop about 4 hours later and found the charger had shut off (tested the pack the next morning and it read 51.6)
Now I know batteries will "charge themselves to a certain degree" but usually I drive the 1/4 mi, golf 18 holes, and drive back the 1/4, and it will charge for 12-14 hours. Is it possible for the batteries to charge themselves that much in 2 hours? (I even drove a 1/2 mi more than usual). Just seems alittle odd to me! |

Yeah... seems very odd... Keep an eye on it. Something's not right.

Re: ? for the experts
if your only at 51 volts after a charge its time to check batteries.......they should be about 55 or 56 volts..........test each one for voltage and load test each one.....check clean and tighten all cables but i suspect you might have a battery problem........................................

Re: ? for the experts
55 or 56 after a charge? Do you mean while their still hot? I thought you were to charge, allow a 10-12 hour rest and then it should read around 51v. Checking voltage immediately after a charge is not very accurate from what I have been told. Look at the "state of charge" post in the stickies.

Re: ? for the experts
That's what I thought! I get a 51.6 reading after letting it sit after charging. Never heard of a 55-56 reading. What am I missing here?

Not sure either..my chart (that I got off this site) states that a pack charge of 50.93v is a 100% charge on 48 volts.

Re: ? for the experts
I just checked the pack tonite, reads 51.3 after sitting for 4 days, thinking that everything is ok? After reading that it should be 55-56 has got me worried! (never read that high from the day I bought the batt's!)

Re: ? for the experts
i,m sorry i should have mentioned the surface charge........you don,t have to let it sit for 12 hours unless you want to but 4 to 6 in enough........also you can just take the cart for a 30 second or minute ride that will also take care of surface charge..........beleive me 51 volts isn,t the best for a fully charged set of good batteries.......i,m not saying take them out now and throw them away they are still quite usable but but would be nice to see 53 volts or better.......................................

Re: ? for the experts
I've seen brand new batteries not read over 51.1 after a rest. Follow the chart in the stickies. It is correct.
