Default 2004 / 2006 precedent club car

I am looking to buy a 2004 to 2006 Precedent club car.....
Has anyone heared of any problems with these cars?
I just retired a 97 club car 48 volt due to a bad controler, and it turns out from all the research that I have done on 97 thru 2000, club car struggled thru these years.....
I do not want to make the same misstake twice...

Any feed back hear would be great.

The newer the better! I've heard of many problems with the 2004 Precedent. Batteries will be a major expense as well so the newer the better on them as well. The OBC's also had problems and even the 2006 could have an older version. Mine is one of them but so far everything is still good with it. I've had mine since Nov of 2008 with no major problems. View the link in my signature below for pictures of it.

Could be as much or as little as newer batterys? Main thing are you happy with this dealer and are sure he will stand behind carts he sells in some shape or form.
SCUBABUD is correct that the newer the better on Precedents. Around here the older models are much--much cheaper than later models and have way more sitting in lots?

There are different version's of the Precedent OBC. Althought difficult to read, the version (or issue) of the OBC can be read with light and possibly a mirror. Your dealer can tell you what the current (latest) version of the OBC is.

A newer verison of the OBC will allow the batteries to charge to a higher voltage. Our batteries will only charge to 48.6 volts, but it has the original OBC.

Have fun! Dave

My OBC is the older version but will charge my batteries to the 51v mark every time. CC did replace under warranty OBC's that wouldn't.

If you have version 2.06 or newer you should be OK. Under the cover between the batteries is the OBC. The pink label which is upside down on the right side of the OBC will show the version number. Just remove that one bolt holding the cover down and you can tell in an instant if you have an updated version.

With 2008 updates you should have a v3.0 OBC... Good stuff. Buy it.
