Default Speed Problem

My '08 CC has developed a problem. When you take off everything seems fine then all of a sudden it slows down. It's like when you're going down a hill and it gears down. Only this happens on level ground. Capacitor?
Thanks

Speed sensor... it's on the end of your motor attached to the three wires that plug into the main wire harness.

Nope... If the controller doesn't see it, it defaults to 8MPH.
