MCOR troubleshooting

I have read that the MCOR should be 5k to 0 but would like a more info on exactly how to check this on a 2001 model.

I have 5 wires coming out of the MCOR, a blue and green/white from one side and just below these are yellow, black and purple wires.

From looking at a wiring diagram i assumed that the 5k to 0 should be between the yellow and purple wire. I disconnected them and measured the resistance. With the pedal up i got 1.156k ohms and when the pedal is down, I get 7.04k ohms.

Can anyone tell me if i have taken the readings between the correct wires and if so, does this indicate that I need a new MCOR?

It's not as fast as it used to be. Other carts leave me for dead now. Batteries are only 18months old and are in good condition. There is 51.8V across them.

I figured the mcor might be the problem and just wanted to check it.

Check the actuator shaft for wear.. The pins that engage the base of the accelerator pedal will wear over time and reduce the signal output of the MCOR.. Grab the shaft and twist to check for excessive play at the pedal end..

Checked the shaft and pins for play. All looks good. Any other ideas?

Check the pedal height.. With the brake unlocked, the distance from the back of the accelerator pedal to the floor board (measured at the top of the pedal at rest) should be 5 7/8" (15cm).. To adjust, loosen the nut & bolt securing the pedal to the pivot plate under the cart, set pedal height to proper dimension and tighten hardware to 26 ft.lb. (35.3 N.m)..

This should rule out any mechanical issues with the system..

Checked the pedal height and it's spot on. Thanks for the metric conversions by the way.

Is this a Series or Regen system?? (Series has a shift "lever" below the seat, Regen has a F/N/R rocker switch)

The only thing to check is to remove the signal wires at the controller and connect an ohmmeter and check the output from the MCOR.. On a Series cart, this is done with the key on and the shifter in "forward".. Disconnect the green & yellow signal wires at the controller, connect ohmmeter to wires and note readings while pressing the accelerator..

The Regen carts will require the use of a Club Car calibration test module to check MCOR output..
