1986 Club Car wont run
I have just been asked to see if I can fix my neighbors 86 club car. The problem is I dont know anything about carts. Can anyone help me? It has new batteries and a new charger. I just printed the solenoid and battery wiring diagram. I am going to check to see if everything is wired correctly. It doesnt move, start up or anything. Someone told me they think the solenoids are bad. Any suggestions or advice would be great!

Re: 1986 Club Car wont run
the solenoid on the drivers side furthest left is the main solenoid......the others are just speed..................jack the rear up and jump the large post on that solenoid if cart runs thats your problem...................if you know nothing about elec. carts i suggest you take your time and make sure you can do what you need to................you can doi much more damage by not knowing what your doing............................please be careful.....................

I agree with the shadowman Even if it does run with the solenoid jumpered, the solenoid could still be good just a bad 'activation circuit' How the heck did you get nominated!? That's like asking me to fix the Hubble Telescope

I have the same problem. My batteries are charged and swapped out the first solenoid and still no go. How do you test the electric motor? What wire goes were? Any other suggestions?

Re: 1986 Club Car wont run
Both you guys try this. Put the cart on jacks with the rear wheels off the ground. Install a short jumper cable across the large terminals of the solenoid closest to the driver's side of the cart.... does it run?

I did that and my electric motor work fine but now my club golf cart runs only on high speed. Which jerks everytime we drive it.
Any ideas? |

Re: 1986 Club Car wont run
Put the cart's rear on jack stands, remove the seat bottom. and slowly push the gas peddle by hand. You should hear each solenoid click as you press the peddle starting with the MASTER closest to the driver's side and progressing to the passenger side.
