Default forward reverse switch wiring

Following the the 86 to 95 with v glide diagram, I have two broken wires. #22 and 24, blue and yellow. The cart does not move at all. One comes from the key, and the yellow is a small one off of the solenoid. The diagram shows them both going to the forward reverse switch. My problem is the diagram is too vague to see where on the switch they go.

Welcome to bgw. I believe they go to the F&R micro switch.

There is one open terminal on the micro switch. I tried to put the one from the key to it and it grounds out and starts to melt.

I bought the cart like this. The guys kid hit a rail with it and did a little fiberglass damage to the front of the compartment. When it did, it pulled the two wires out and he never found where they went, so it sat for the winter. He swears it ran till the accident.

It is tough to do this without a meter, huh? ... it may be the one going to the solenoid activation circuit then... and the other one to the micro. Check to see if the micro is still good, they won't take much of that direct short to melt.

I know. My meter is at work and I am off today. I can't believe I can't find the two ends still stuck where they belong. The wires are bare on the end. I am assuming the one off the key is a ground.

It is the 88 to 03 vglide diagram. I just went out and bought a meter. A ride to work would take 3 hours round trip at this time of the day.

Both appear to be ground wires.

I got it running. Thanks for the help. Key wire went to one side of the coil. Coil clicks when key it turned. Other went to the forward reverse switch. Got it charging so I can go for a cruise later. Thanks.
