96' replaced obc, speed control still no go!
Ok batteries are great, OBC is brand new, speed control is brand new, silinoide works great but the car will only creep forward and back about 1/4"??? The car wound not charge at first before I changed anything but it would drive forward and reverse just fine. So I started by replacing the OBC and now the car charges, but no forward or reverse power. So I though it might be a fried speed controler, so we changed that and still nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: 96' replaced obc, speed control still no go!
is it a reagan cart? if so jack up rear of cart take seat off put in gear and press pedal take a look at the big resistor coil that sits behind the batteries.......if it starts glowing orange ( hot real hot ) your reagan solenoid could be stuck.........if not while it jacked up jump the large post on the main solenoid and see if you get any more speed out of it if so replace.................................

The regen solenoid being stuck is definitely a good thing to check. I was actually going to mention this as well... But in my experience, they usually will still run with a stuck regen solenoid, but only very slowly. Please give a little more information as to what type of system this is and you'll get plenty of good help from these guys and myself as well.

Re: 96' replaced obc, speed control still no go!
Ok the car is actually a 97' Club Car DS. The car came to me not charging but it would drive around just fine, (Forward and Revese worked great). So I replaced the O.B.C with a new one and the cart charges now but will not move forward or reverse. I thought maybe I accidentally smoked the controller while changing out the OBC so I replaced that with an extra one sitting on my shelf. Still nothing changed NO GO! I made a jumper wire from the left post of the solenoid to the right post and know it will go in forward and reverse when I press on the pedal. So I thought it was a bad selinoid and replaced it with a new one and I still have the same issue. I put the old OBC back in and the car drives around again but will not charge. I know the old obc is bad and thats why it will not charge but what the heck is with the NO GO after installing the new OBC. I'm possitive that the new OBC is the same part # as the old one. I'm stumped??? Can you GURU"S figure this out? Could it be the two diodes that are on the selinoid? maybe they are not working?

with the new OBC installed try running a jumper from the post on the soledoid that the yellow wire connects to and the 48 volt neg battery post and then try running the cart. Sounds like the new OBC may be in lockout.

How do we know if we have the right controller on it if we do not know if it is regen or series? Basics first
Phew...... ok. And is the other controller you put on it series also? |
