Default Good and bad Precedent years?

Iím looking to buy my first cart mainly to run around campgrounds and maybe make it street legal down the road. I would like to find one that is a good running and reliable that I can accessorize as I can afford to (paint, lift, tires, speed, etc). Iím leaning towards the Club Car Precedent but am getting conflicting information on what are good years and what to avoid. 2004ís have electrical gremlins? 2007ís have battery and charger issues? Are 8 volt batteries better than 12 volt and what years had which? Are they all good? Any advice would be appreciated.

In my opinion... buy an 04 for dirt cheap, and with the money you save, convert it to the 8-Volt battery setup. The only issues with the 04 were front end bushings (about 25 bucks) and computer and battery issues, which are both replaced with the battery conversion kit.

TAHOEDAWG what is approximate cost of 2004 battery conversion kit you talk about and what does it all include? The local area dealers have whole bunch of 2004-2006 Precedents sitting around at very cheap prices, while late model DSs are much higher priced and harder to find.

NEEDED LITERATURE
I have been asked if I would do the conversion of a Precedent 12 volt cart into a 8 volt cart. Does anyone have the literature showing how hard this task is? I would love to have copy or original literature to confirm if I and others here not so crippled could do the conversion. Can anyone help me in this matter?
