motor and controller
I know this has probably been asked a million times but i am getting ready to buy a motor and controller for my 96 CC 48v. I am using 2ga. welding cable, H.D. solenoid and am going to go with a MCOR. I am wanting more torque than speed and it will be used for just running around my house and will NOT be in the mud or offroad. Can somebody tell me what is the best setup for the best price and the best place to buy this?
Thank you |

Re: motor and controller
I know they are getting harder to find but if you could find a "good used 36 volt motor" to replace your 48 volt unit its surprising how much more torque they give with 48 volts supply. The 36 volt wont give the power of a torque motor from D&D or other such motors but very good and prices have been fair.
Any motor you get should be matched with a controller recomended by motor supplier, and yes as Shadowman said remember to go with HD F&R unit. |

Re: motor and controller
Several of the sponsors here, have a program on their webisite that allows you to type in what options you need and it will "spit" out what is the best design. I know East Coast Custom Carts has this ability and I'm sure some of the others do as well.

Re: motor and controller
Check out my signature and you will see my setup on my 48v series cart. I have gained a ton of torque and run over 26mph consistently. If you plug your info into the motor/controller app on the D&D website my setup is almost the most torque and speed they offer. I purchased my D&D motor from East Coast Carts.

Re: motor and controller
Yes just drop in a 36v motor in your cart and you should get what you want. Just with stock 48vcontroller,4ga. wires, new to me strong batteries, and the used 36vmotor i have gone from 14-16mph on a good day to 18-20mph, and an appreciable difference on hills. Do it you like it.
