battery at the pos end of 48v series won't charge
We have a DS electric golf car built in 1997. We recently replaced all six batteries and cables. The battery at the positive end of the six 8 volt battery series doesn't seem to hold a charge from the charger. All other batts read over 8 volts while the last one runs down to 2.5 volts. Isolated we can charge this final battery up to 7.8 volts but it runs down quickly. This troublesome end of series battery has been replaced 3 times so it is not the case of installing a bad battery. Any suggestions to the problem. We operate an isolated fishing camp in Northern Ontario and really need the cart to work around camp. No techs within a 6 hour drive.

Re: battery at the pos end of 48v series won't charge
Welcome to BGW ...eh?
Check the total pack voltage. 48v or 49v right? Then check the voltage at the charger receptacle = 40v is my guess. I'm guessing you have only 5 batteries connected to the charger. Can you verify or dis-spell this theory?..... eh? |

Are you sure you've got the red wire from the charger receptacle positioned correctly?

Re: battery at the pos end of 48v series won't charge
Thank you guys, somewhere in dealing with the old batteries we connected the red wire from the charger receptacle to the fifth battery not the sixth. All the batts now in the loop and fully charged at +8 volts. Sometimes when you keep looking at something you miss the obvious. Thanks again.
