Default 94 club car quit running- again

Last week I had a 94 club car that quit running, and I found it was the solenoid. It did not click and had 40V at the terminals. I ordered a new #8016(exact same) from ebay. Put it on and it ran for a 2 days.
Now I see the exact same thing...no click, 40V to small terminal with key on and gas pedal pushed...did I just get a bad solenoid, or could something else cause a solenoid failure?

did you install a resistor on it? What about a diode? What size controller are you running?

I used the same resistor and diode off the old solenoid...I check them on the multimeter to make sure they were to the wiring diagram...as far as the controller, don't know...never had it off

just to clarify from my notes...resistor was 250K, placed across large posts...I think the diode was .25 ufd, stripe to the white/black wire on small post.

That is the correct solenoid for that cart........ maybe it is a micro switch at the V-glide or F&R?

Again though, solenoid is not clicking as when I installed it 2 days ago. I have 40V from ground to white/black wire on solenoid with key on and gas pedal pushed....without either key or gas pedal, I get nothing...that would seem normal.

I would seem as if you are certain you have a completed solenoid activation circuit? Then the solenoid is bad no matter how old or cheap it was Time for another...

scottyb--also just to remind you..this cart had no problems for over a year until last week when the original solenoid went bad

I have already ordered another solenoid from a different vendor....just wanted to check with the experts here if something on the cart could cause a solenoid to fail. I just don't see it in the wiring diagram..they either work or they don't. That's why I wanted to ask before blowing another $40.

Nothing in the system can cause the solenoid to fail.... except over voltage. 40v is kind of high for a 36v cart... but again, not so high as to make me think that could be a problem for the solenoid. I have seen some of those last a year on 48v.... probably just a bad solenoid ....
