Default Brakes feel weak.. Please help..

Hi guys.. I have a 1990 ds Club Car 36 volt and the brakes are really weak. I replaced both brake cables but the brakes dont stop the car too well at all. Im not sure how much braking power I should have, but it sure seems like I should have more then I have. I looked at the shoes and all looks well. I do know that the parking brake doesnt work. Its missing a rod it looks like. Not sure if there is more to it then that. When I drive it and depress the brake really hard, it slows down very slowly. Is that normal? Thanks for all the help that u can give..

sounds like you may need to adjust the brakes.

Jack up the rear end.
remove both rear wheels.
at the top of the backing plate there is a small square "bolt".
Turn the "bolt" while slowly rotating the hub until you hear a light scraping sound.
repeat for second side.
replace wheels, lower car.
test drive.

I too am glad to know the fix worked. Sorry if it sounded abrupt.... I sometimes lay things out in a linear fashion and then when going back to read it, I realize I stripped it of any emotion......

Seriously though, i am gald that worked out for you.
