Talking finding voltage of motor

thanks folks for the year help on my cart.(1995) now on to tougher questions ... like i have no clue what service this cart had from new so no idea if fleet or not.. how do i determine for fact if 48 volt before i drop a load on batteries that may not work?
one reply stated 6 volt were still in use in fleet service untill 04.. i do not know this ones background beyond 2 years ago. again all assistance gratefully accepted .. i am totally disabled so would like to get as much info as i can before dumping money on labor from locals who charge me to fill my gas tank on my truck lolol.. thanks again
