2.4 volts
Got a call from a friend, charger not working.
Went to check it out. A new club car had been left off charger for 10 months. Used a few times during that time. Batteries were at 2.4 volts. 6 8 volts. Starting to bring them up a 3 at a time. What will they have to come up to before the charger will start? Ard |

Re: 2.4 volts
Check voltage often and when ( TOTAL PACK ) voltage shows 28-30 volts with existing charging sourse is turned off the factory On Board Computer controled Club Car charger should kick in and bring batterys up to full voltage over a 12-18 hour period, but wait until charger turns itself off, otherwise the charger will have to go through a complete cycle all over again. For further info look up under DR BOB as he has extensive info on OBC Club Car charging.
Hope this helps. Ard[/QUOTE] |

Re: 2.4 volts
Sorry about that.
48 volts. Charging 3 at a time w/24 volt charge. Started about 4 pm yesterday, 3 hrs at a time. Again this morning from about 7:30 am. Up to about 44 volts total. Plugged in charger, waited about 2 min. and nothing. I do know there is a delay for the computer to check things out. How long before it should kick in? |

Re: 2.4 volts
Was that 44 volts while charger was plugged in or after waiting an hour for batterys to level off? The charger test delay should only be a few seconds so there may be a problem either with inline fuse behind charger cart receptical or with the OBC or its connections? With a new Club Car the dealer should take care of problem for him?

Re: 2.4 volts
In my experience these batteries are dead. They will not come back from 2.4 each let alone 2.4 pack voltage? The charge relay will give an audible click when it can see the pack, then plug the charger into the household current. You may have 2 issues? Good Luck

Re: 2.4 volts
Thanks for all the replies.
Batteries are shot. 7.7 volt and will not even begin to float hygrometer. Scratching my head, I checked stamp on Trojan batteries which look new. 'B 5' That is Feb 2005, right? Haven't had a chance to talk to the owner. Not being real familiar with carts, I thought the cart was new. Looks new. Absolutely spotless. I have hardly seen a cart look that good. Year? I do not know. Serial # QP0399 - 216254. Anyone tell me what year that might be? |

Re: 2.4 volts
well we know its a 2003........1st thing is new batts, now i say this only if you have to ...if you can,t afford top of the line batts than get cheaper ones if you have to and make sure they give you 48 volt batts and not 36 volts.........count water fill holes....r4=48 3=36..........once you get the batts in lets go from there....................................

Re: 2.4 volts
So the first 2 digits in the serial # is the year?
Will get Trojans. Have a good supplier locally. Trojan distribution right here so get real fresh ones. This will be the 3rd cart I have obtained batteries for this year. Probably one more to go. It is a '83 EZ-GO. Trojan batts are 8 yrs old and still going all day long, every day. Just welded up new battery racks and replacing the contact bolts in the speed control today. Thanks for the help. Now to get a cart of my own in the next few months |
