Default 06' Precedent-Need New Batteries(12Volt) Best Type or Details of Swapping to 6(8volts

Today, one of my battery terminals just broke off while we were riding. Batteries were wearing down and getting old anyway.

What are the best batteries to replace these with for my 06' precedent 4(12V)?

I've seen people mention switching to 6(8 volt batteries) on this site. Do you recommend this switch out? If so, what are the pros, cons, and costs associated with the switch out?

Details of Cart and Usage.

---Also about to upgrade to PlumQuick.

---06 Precedent--4(12V)--6inch lift with larger tires--used mostly on our land with is wooded with some hilly terrain.

Thanks in advance for all of the help.

If you are about to upgrade the motor, you really should do the conversion back to 8 volt batteries. I believe the cost for the conversion kit is roughly $400, but the 6 - 8volt batteries will cost you less than the 4 - 12's so that will help offset the cost somewhat.

The biggest benefit is runtime, but a side benefit is battery life overall... The 4-12's tend to die in a much shorter time frame than the 8's or 6's do......

Thanks for the information! I will check on the switch out tomorrow.

What brand and model batteries do you recommend? I looked at the battery comparison thread but it was a couple of years old.

Also are there any good places to purchase from online that Buggies recommends for battery purchases?

Once again, Thanks!

Check locally for a battery distributor, online prices are very close to retail and the shipping charges will kill any savings you might think you were getting. Just check UPS for their going rate on 400-450lbs plus hazardous material charges.

Thanks for all of the responses. Located in Augusta, GA. US Battery plant is here in Augusta, local shop said that Club Car now uses US Battery in the newer carts. Is US BAttery as good as Trojan?

Check with TahoedawgZ71 at dealer in Augusta as he was sourse of my conversion info. I wasnt aware of Club car using US batterys over TROJAN so check with Tahoedawg to confirm. It's possible that Club Car could be changing for reasons other than QUALITY in this day and age of shrinking dollars? JUST A THOUGHT ON MY PART? Auto maker are doing lots to stay afloat so why not golf cart makers?

Is the conversion an easy task or is it something you need to have done by a dealer?

I have not done one yet ( am waiting to possibly do two in near future ) but from info ( TAHOEDAWG Z71 ) it takes a mechanically inclined person about one hour to do conversion.
