Default charger cable gets hot?

New guy here. Is it normal for the battery charger cable going into the cart to get hot. I just bought this cart last night (1991 CLUB CAR). Thanks for any help here.

I have a 36V 1988 club car. It has a 36v lestronic charger. The cord will be warm to the touch but not hot to the point were you can't touch it. With that much current running through the cable and for the lenght of time it takes to charge. Being warm is normal.

I hope this helps.

The cables can be warm to the touch but not hot enough to burn your hand? How long has charger been on and what is amp reading on meter HIGH? Normally when cables get hot its because of poor connections or cables with high resistance ( corrosion or too small guage ) I would check condition of batterys with hydrometer ( single float ) Look at STICKIES ABOVE Titled "State of charge readings" or volt meter as you could have one or more bad batterys? Is cart 36 volts ( 6 three filler caps ) or has it been changed to 48 volts ( 8 three hole fillers OR 6 8 volt batterys four filler holes ) being new to you we find all kinds of conversions or just stock carts.
