97 Club Car brake issues

I was driving my cart at a low speed then applied the brakes and it locked up. I continued home and it kept locking up even with the slightest press of the pedal. I lost power on the last one and found a control wire going from motor to solenoid pulled out. I removed the drums and saw the adjuster all the way out. Reset the adjuster, added proper cable slack, lubed everything that should be. Now when I hit the brakes the pedal pushes back up against my foot and pulsates while locking up the drivers side wheel. In reverse it seems to brake fine. The cart is lifted 8" with 26" tires. What do you think is causing the problem?

"Wire from Motor to Solenoid Pulled out" Sounds like your differential housing is rotating inside "U" bolts. What that does is pull on cables applying brakes. This is fairly common on lifted carts as the mounts have been altered allowing this to happen. Check that motor and differential is straight up, then tighten "U" bolts real tight and see if that solves problem. I use a torque wrench and apply up to 80-100 foot pounds to really set them tight. WARNING I have broken some after market "U" bolts as they are not made of quality steel? If you need replacements get Club Car bolts as they usually are much higher strength? Also check for quality lock washers to help retain nuts. On some carts I have had to switched over to "4" "U" bolts ( 2 on each side ) rather than stock ( 1 on each side ) to solve this problem. I will check the u-bolts for tightness. The bolts came with the All Sport lift kit and seem to have a special bend to fit over the axle and thru the mount unless they got twisted from being loose while braking. Do you think the pedal pushing back towards me when I brake could be from the axle twisting?
The cart is 3 hours away at our vacation home and I don't have internet access there so I am trying to cover any other options before I go back.

its not uncommon at all for the axle to move back and or forth after putting a lift on it can be a real pain sometimes and yours sounds like a classic case of that going on.........i,m not 100% certain but it does happen a lot...........................

Yes its very possible when you press pedal that its trying to fight you so to speak by pushing back. Check and see that axle hasn't already moved some ( motor tilted forward ) as you have already had to reajust cable linkage.
When you are is reverse the brakes basiclly only have about 50% of power that they have in forward.
