Default Converting to (8) 6 volt batteries

Anyone know if there is a kit for doing this? I am in the middle of doing this to a cart that I decided to rebuild at the shop and was wondering if I just made a foolish move in having my welder pattern a "bolt on" kit for converting a cart?

Here's what I have done so far (please remember that this cart will have a whole new powerplant but I did have him pattern it in a way that an end user could retain all the stock electronics):

rabbit i,m not sure about this so if thats the case someone will either add to or point out my error so i,m thinking about this and as far as i can tell if your only converting batteries i would think if the batterty tray isn,t interchangable you can buy a new tray and install it and than just add batteries and mix......................lol hold the ice....................kiddin but if you just cables the batteries just like normal 8 volt system that should do it right? i can,t see anything else that would have to be done? am i wrong? if so someone jump in...........biggest thing i think is getting your main pos. and neg. cables hooked up to the right batteries to charge the system right, it might not be a bad idea to put a inline fuse on the 10 gage red charger wire just for safety sakes other than that it should be good...........................

well so far I have had to cut the brake bracket in the front (it gets rebolted to the tab that is sticking out down below), cut out the cross member located at the rear of the center set of batteries, remove the controller mount plate (If I was leaving the stock electronics in place, I would have rehung it using some "tabs" that come with the kit at an angle towards the motor area.) and drill a total of 6 holes (4 for the rack itself and 2 for the brake hanger).

The only issues I have run into so far is the Brake hanger looks like it could be tempermental to bolt into place and I forsee someone having an issue with watering the rear 2 batteries (easily fixed by installing a battery fill system on the cart).

The wiring for main pos and neg should be able to remain in the original locations (although I plan for this cart to be custom so I am not wiring them there in this case. I have already fabricated a new battery hold down for the center 4 batteries to prevent them from sliding around (Will require 2 more holes to be drilled).

I'm trying to set this up as a DIY kit for people, but to be honest, fabrication isn't my stong suit. The welder and i are working out the kinks as we go so there will be more updates as time progresses.

The one thing that REALLY concerns me is that I have no idea how the OBC in a "stock" car will react. As far as I can tell, it shouldn't effect it at all, but I don't know enough about the OBC to know for certain.

rabbit you should be fine with the OBC i think as long as it senses 48 volts there shouldn,t be a problem.............................

On a frame up build like this I would use a Lester 48v charger and toss the OBC as far out into the lake as I could
