Default Replaced OBC, Charger is good, good cables, Specific gravity is off the charts, but..

Ok, so have a cart that I've been chasing charging issues on. The charger/s (say this because more than one known good working charger has been tested on this cart) seem to run and never shut off. Many, many hours of trouble shooting by myself and others narrowed it down to the OBC. Replace the OBC and verified all cables were clean tight and not corroded.

After replacing the OBC, the charger kicked on, did the self test, and began charging, it started at 10 amps, then moved down to 9, 8, etc, and is now bee sitting at 7-8 amps for 7 hours, the batteries are very hot. All read close to 9v the specific gravity is off the charts.

While charging I put the meter on and it shows at 55.7 volts and it does this with either charger, gets to 7 amps and is like it stops.

Concerned with the batteries being so warm. So what am I missing?

its not uncommon with new batteries that the charger will stay on for 16 hours, but unless you think for some reason theres a safety issue leave charger on...........charge time will get less as batteries break in until everything is back to normal.................new batts are only 75 to 80% so its up to you to get them up the other 25% which will take 12 or so complete charges...........drive the cart and when finished and your gonna charge it once you plug it in leave it go until charger shuts off...........your low voltage sensor in charger isn,t been fooled with has it? if so charger won,t shut off.........................................

What we are missing is the magic # where the obc shuts the charger off .... David knows it and I know it is in one of my books but I think it is higher than 55v. Concerned why charger does not move down into the 5-7amp range?

These are not new batteries, they are 3 years old, 2007. What is the low voltage sensor?

Agreed this is what is concerning me. And what also concerns me is how warm the batteries are getting as compared to what I would call carts that are not having problems. That is why I am wondering if there is something else wrong that I am missing.

With all connections good, good charger, and replaced OBC they only other thing I can think is the batteries themselves but the numbers don't add up to indicate bad batts.

But now being on the charger for closer to 10 hours (believe I put it on around 2pm et) without the ammeter moving from 7 amp, and the batteries being way to hot for comfort, i am pulling the plug on it while I am sleeping....can't take a chance. And I measured again, and it was still sitting at 55.4 after all these hours

This is all starting make me think I have a bad battery that it can never get over 55.4v. I will check the voltage in the morning and then will start it again. In the early AM.

I'm thinking there is a bad battery in that mix. There is no other reason I can think of that the pack voltage hasn't moved in that many hours....
