Default Does This Sound Like A Bad Charger, Or A Bad OBC?

I posted this thread earlier...but it got lost in the system some how.

My battery light has been blinking again. I replaced some of the cables on my batteries and it stopped for a while....until I hooked the charger up. Once the charger has been hooked up, the light starts to blink. If I disconnect/reconnect the first cable it stops again, even when driving and doesnt start blinking again untill it put on the charger. It seems like the OBC might be going out to me, but Im brand new at this electric motor stuff. Any opinions??

Also, I found an OBC for a club car at a decent price....but its a VERSION 3, is that ok for an 03? How many versions are there? I know its definately made for a 48v, but how would I know if its only good for years upto 98 or something?

Is there a way to test my charger for defect? it DOES NOT shut off. The guy who sold the cart me told me the charger wouldnt shut off, and it hasnt...Ive just been carefull not to charge it for more than about 8 hours or so. Wouldnt a bad OBC cause a charger to NOT SHUT OFF?

And would a bad OBC cause a cart to go slower than expected? Im gps'n at 11mph.

Any of these amature questions any of you are willing to answer is greatly appreciated.

Ok...so Im assuming you guys are giving me the "Sink or swim" lesson on golf cart repair....Ok MFs....I can hang with that. While growing cobwebs waiting on a reply to the above question, I was forced to poke around on my cart somemore.....and I may very well have a bad OBC OR Charger....but first have to replace ONE of my batteries, 5 are holding a charge just fine.....One reads a full charge right after a charging session, but at somepoint in between testing with voltmeter right after charging...and the next day...it reads a solid ZERO. So, thanks to you hardcore "let him figure it out on his own" & you "give a man a fish and only feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime"ers who've brilliantly offered NO HELP AT ALL, thanks....(I know you bas*ards are probably just lazy and ignoring me, or simply dont know the answer, but Im trying to think positively here!!)

Some of you may remember the trouble I had removing the steering wheel...well, the new wheel slid right on, but I sure the hell hope I never have a reason to have to pull it off again!!!

I have also covered my seats with a black/lime green cover from somebody on ebay...Ive got all new battery cables, installed a titanium dash, and bought a new OBC that I may not even need( but it was BRAND NEW still in the package and RIDICULOUSLY cheap)...I wont install it till I find out for sure if my original one is bad or not...so if anyone needs a brand new OBC really cheap, let me know cuz I have a feeling I wont need this one.

And I ordered a bodyskinz Black/Green Flames wrap that should be arriving by this wednesday.....I couldnt find much on the application process of the wrap other than what the dealers have on their sites and OF COARSE they make it look like any retard can do it with one hand tied behind his back and the other one scratching his balls , So I will start a thread with step by step pictures of how an ordinary fat guy with no skills goes about wrapping a cart...this is gonna be a mess, but Im hoping it will be the shiznit when Im done with it. It BETTER, for $350

Now I realize that Im just entertaining myself, because apparently you bunch of testicles avoid my threads like you avoid answering the door when you know its a Jehova's Witness on the otherside but Im ok with that, I'll get it done without your precious EXPERTISE & GUIDANCE. And the chicks are gonna dig it!......What??? It could happen!!!

Who am I even typing to....no one even reads my threads!!!!! thank god I have the voices in my head to talk to.

Last OBC I saw just smoked...other than that it just sat there. LOL!

But seriously...I believe there WAS an answer but got lost in the storm. An OBC will cause the charger to NOT SHUT OFF. I believe a version 3 OBC is just an updated version...those OBC's are notorious for crapping out so they keep trying to make them better.

Absolutely love the post.

most cases when the OBC goes out the charger won,t come on, on occasion it won,t kick off but mosdt of the time thre charger just won,t come on, what year is the cart? they have updated the OBC 3 times so after 1998 OBC problems were cut like 90% you can,t just slap any OBC into the cart thats not the way it works you need to get the right one.......keep in mind if you do just slap one in you can do more damage............................................ .

Try disconnecting your batteries for about an hour, then hook it all back up. sometimes that will solve the problem. If not, then yes, it is a bad OBC (most likely)...

Youre right...ya cant just slap any ol'OBC on it, can ya.....the GREAT DEAL I got on ebay was worthless to me. Had an extra wire that I didnt have anything to connect to it!!! My carts an 03 regen 48v...the obc was a version3....so I have it for sale at the same price I paid inc s&h on ebay.

I havent checked to see if the charger will cut off since Ive replaced the cables and cleaned the terminals yet....been working and spending what little time Ive had trying to fit this bodyskinz on. Its looking great...but having no experience, its taking me forever to do alone. But again...its looking pretty **** sharp and Im happy with the results for the most part.

YES>
One bad battery will make any automatic charger not turn off.
As in the steering wheel thread...If you just back off a bit and ask for help in a humble manor, there are plenty of good people here who will give away their hard earned knowledge. If you know what I mean.
PS: If I haven't ruffel'd your feathers a little - I didn't word it right !

Not me! NO, I'm speaking from experience.
Just not too many like us.... Only a minority appreciate it. I never owned a cart with an obc so I just watched....are you gettin' it figured out yet?

To be honest..NO!! But I havent really been messing with it in the last couple of days...Ive been pretty busy trying to get this wrap on the body....its looking really nice, but its not as easy as they make you think it is on the web site(imagine that!!)

I have replaced the bad battery...but havent put the charger on it because if it DOESNT shut off...I dont wanna fry the batteries. Im waiting till I have some time to plug it in and actually keep a close eye on it for a few hours.

When the charger DOES turn off...howw long does it stay off....does it pop off for a few minutes, then back on for a few minutes....or does it saty off for a few hours and then back on for a few minutes...whats the cycle like? What am I looking for to happen?
