this may be a dumb question, but could the load be spread. IE Power wire on one battery and the memory on another? or a pair of batterys in a 6x6 set

No... because they share the same ground... using different sources of power would also produce different amounts of power.

Here is the stereo install I just completed. Under the rear seat a 48v to 12v reducer, 6.5 Polk speakers and Jensen marine stereo with Ipod cable behind the left door. 12v power outlet and USB/Aux input on the dash. Tuner/amp behind the dash.
