I have a few bad rear ends from that era...... If you can produce a number maybe we can positively ID it enough to see if I have what you need? They made a few different rear ends for CC and I am not 100% sure what is in your cart. The axle tubes are cast in those halves, which side is it; they have a long and a short tube.

He might be right but I have never heard that before? That case is cast aluminum and even TIG welding is an ugly mess. The casting is full of impurities and oil. But it can be done if your welder is good and persistent.

Pretty ugly. I don't see where any 2 halves could be so different as to not work? How would this have worked at the factory?
