Battery charging issues!y

Hi All

Need a litte help please , long story short I topped up my Presedent batteries with a little too much water and I used a baster and sucked it back out again but ever since when I charge the batteries it climbs upto the green into the. Whit charged area on the me meter but contines to go into the red again.

Anyone know if I cam do anything to fix this ? Thwnk you

Hi again

Please ignore above, its a good lesson on not trying to use an iPad to type when half asleep and on pain killers!

If your allow me to start again, a couple of days ago I noticed the water on my four batteries starting to get low so I bought some distilled water and topped them up myself. I them put it back together again and plugged in the charger and I hear bubbling and the Battery meter needle went over the other side into the red which means overcharging I believe?

So I get a turkey baster and suck up most of the water I put in until the water is just over the top of the battery elements so I put it all back together again but the meter still slowly moves into the green, then the white which I normally have it in which means fully charged but keeps going into the red which is over charged I believe.

I am not sure what to do at this point at I don't want to screw up my batteries, any ideas or tips please?

Overfilling and removing water would amount to diluting the battery electrolyte and the charger may continue to work overtime to get the SG back up to normal.

Thanks for the fast reply, so will it be ok to go onto the overcharge far right red part of the meter whilst it gets the SG back up to normal? Does this normally take long?

I'm not familiar enough with your charger to know exactly what into the red means voltage wise? If you have a voltmeter and can tell what the pack voltage is then I can help more. I think the upper limit on that pack is about 60v max.
...what charger is this?

Over charging I doubt that is happening unless the batteries are no good. Sucking the water out....not good either, did you keep the water you took out? It would be good to use that to fill your batteries the next time.

Checking the batteries with a volt meter is a good idea, while the charger is still plugged in and charging the batteries.

Thank you again for the help so far, when I get home I will check the voltage with it charging but I have a couple of photos of the meter and the charger if they are any help.

You can see the meter has a red on the left and right, the left being low and the right being..over charged or some sort of problem?

Hi again

Yes kept the old water ready for next time.

Also checked the voltage and its reading 55v across all the batteries, any ideas?

at 55 volts its not over charging, Id let it run untill the charger shuts off.

Don't let that $15 gauge scare you That charger is suppose to shut off at 58.3 +/- a couple a volts for the difference in meters. The pack will not stay at 58 it will settle to 50.1 or close to that. Then the needle will no longer be in the red....... also! Recharge at or before 48v see where that is on your colored meter.
