On Board Charger?
I have a new 48 volt Club Car project going and want to know about using an on board charger. Are they expensive, do they work, are they available ? Any advice? Thanks!

Re: On Board Charger?
I personally would stick with a Club Car charger ( hooked to OBC ) whether its on board or not. They are NOT CHEAP but quality is very good. I personally dont like to add weight to a cart so I stick with plug in unit. Many after market chargers are easily damaged by water so as I clean my batterys on a twice monthly basis I stay away from OB units. The other problem is that the 120 volt connection if not properly protected will get corroded and cause shorting?

Re: On Board Charger?
If you go onboard, definitely go with a factory charger. Part number 101841901 will be required to convert a non-onboard charger to an onboard unit. It's an AC interrupt board. It must be installed to keep the car from "thinking" it's ALWAYS plugged into a charger. It fools the car into thinking the DC cord is plugged in simultaneously with the AC cord, and unplugged in the same manner. The OBC will not allow the car to run when it's "Plugged-In" Therefore, the AC interrupt board must trick the car into thinking it's "Unplugged" when in all actuality it's hardwired into the battery pack.
