Dead Battery Cell - Jerky when starting

I have an '04 Club Car Precedent that has developed a jerky start when first pressing on the pedal. Once you get going at a little faster speed it is fine. I checked all the batteries which have a date of Feb '06 and they have the following readings when fully charged:

1- 12.52
2 - 12.45
3 - 12.57
4 - 12.44 with one dead cell

Could the one battery with the dead cell be the issue? Do I need to look elsewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I suppose it could but more times than not the jerkiness comes from the electronic throttle box referred to as an MCOR. Do some searches for MCOR and you will find several threads and will possibly point you in the right direction.

The power comes from series wired batteries, as 24 cells in a row all connected together, one dead cell will compromise the whole thing.
Example: Try putting one dead battery and one good one in your flashlight and see how it performs.

I hate to say it but with 4 plus year old 12 volt batterys I'm surprised you can get cart to run at all? You must have done a SUPERIOR job of battery breakin and maintenance. If you replace only one battery the rest will be WEAK and cause charger to ruin your new battery by boiling the H out it. If you want to replace only one battery get a used battery and then wait for rest of pack to go bad ( which wont be long because #2 is ready to go ).
If you have been reading the forum for awhile you know that Club Car has dropped 12 volts because of short life, short range, etc and came out with a factory conversion to 6-8 volt batterys. The cost of conversion parts is about $400, plus labor, plus new 8 volt batterys and if I was you I would consider having it done or doing it yourself as I have been told its a easy change out to save on labor and requires only a few basic tools. With your batterys going bad now would be the time if you can afford to do conversion as you need new batterys anyway?

Thanks for your input. The MCOR made the most sense to me and when I replaced it everything worked great. Thanks again for your help.

if you have a battery with a dead cell in it you really need to replace it or its gonna effect the other batteries in a negitive way................................
