Powerdrive2 charger problem!
My charger for my 08 Precedent keeps tripping the reset button everytime I plug it into my cart. I thought it might be the breaker so I replaced it. It didn't help. I got a couple of replies on another post and they seem to think it is the rectifior. Colud this be the problem? I tought I had an issue with the cart or batteries at first but I used a friends charger and it worked great.

Re: Powerdrive2 charger problem!
Tested the rectifier and yes, it is bad! Now I need to see if I can find one somewhere tomorrow!
Thanks |

Re: Powerdrive2 charger problem!
I just had the rectifier replaced in my Powerdrive2 charger. Now when it's pluged in it's seems to be charging OK but the case is very hot to the touch. Is that a normal condition or should I have it looked at again?

Re: Powerdrive2 charger problem!
I would have it checked out again. It will get above ambient temp. - it has a heat sink but should not get "very hot". The charger manual does not mention anything about heat in the troubleshooting section but does say the charger shud not charge at 19 amps for more than 30 mins.

Re: Powerdrive2 charger problem!
These chargers get extremely hot if they are having to work extremely hard to charge your battery pack. This can also cause a rectifier failure. That may be what caused it to fail in the first place. Check all of your battery connections on the cart. How old are your batteries? If the batteries don't want to absorb the charge that the charger is trying to offer, all of the excess energy turns into heat.
