Default Cart won't charge...bad computer?

Up until the day before yesterday, my 1996 cart charged just fine all summer. All of a sudden, the charger "clicks" but the needle never moves. I'm told it may be the computer. Are these hard to replace or very expensive? Also, my batteries seem to need water constantly. It's a fast cart, tops out around 26 or so, and it get's a lot of around town use. Maybe this is creating a problem?
Any ideas or advice?
Thanks!
Jason

Check your wall outlet. Make sure it's getting power. The "Click" you're hearing is the relay turning on. It wouldn't turn on unless the OBC told it to. I'm not ruling out a bad charge circuit on the OBC, but the control circuit works fine. Most of the time it's the wall outlet with a problem like this. You can also check the circuit breaker on the front of the charger to make sure it's not tripped. If it is, reset it and try it again. If everything passes the test, take a small jumper wire and hook it to the small fuse on the back of the charger receptacle that has the two small nuts holding the #10 black wires to it.... Hook to the side of the fuse that has the black wire that runs down into the OBC harness, then hook the other end of the jumper wire to the MAIN negative battery post. This is the post that has the black wire that runs directly through the OBC... Plug the charger in, if it charges, replace OBC... The charge circuit is shorted internally.

Chicken's still delicious, Beer Barrel never has been the same, has it? Any idea what one of those computers costs? I may take you up on a round trip Jet ticket!

1st if you can try your charger on another cart or another charger on your cart to try and eliminate it............if that happens an its a 96 non reagan cart take a jumper wire go from solenoid small post with yellow wire over to neg. term. on #6 battery rear drivers side if cart runs its OBC for sure........you can also give that grey wire a tug on the back of the charge receptical make sure it dons,t come out if it does thats your problem........make sure you cover all your basics 1st cables, fuses, everything clean and tight anf enough voltage.......as for putting a OBC in that depends on your skill level you need to do it right or you can do more damage............................................ ............

Thanks everyone who offered help...we started to try the jump wire thing and found that something was shorting out on one of the batteries. Cleaned the posts and re connected everything, now it shows a full charge! Volt meter confirms this...guess I'll run it for awhile and then try to charge again, maybe that's all it needed?

Once a month or 2 check water levels in the batteries and clean & tighten all battery connections.

Glad you found it.
