Re: 1996 club car power drive plus help
99 is a series cart. The orig. controller was 225 amps & a 0-5k input. There are some aftermarket controllers out there that will fit it ~ some with a higher amp output which will improve performance.
Or you may find a used one from some one who upgraded? |

Re: 1996 club car power drive plus help
My 1996 ( EARLY MODEL CC BEFORE SERIAL # A9628508740 series 48 volt Club car ) came stock with Model #1204-410 Curtis controller 275 amps max ( White or Silver in color ), uses 5-0 OHMS pedal control potentiometer ( POT ). Be very careful to get correct controller for your pedal control ( POT ) as they make them in 0-5 Ohms and 5-0 Ohms. That old a CC could have anything from stock ( OBSOLETE ) to late model conversion to MCOR, or variations on Curtis PB-6? if unsure check ( POT ) with OHM meter and check across 2 leads which way highest resistance is found. ( 0-5 OHMS "pedal up to pedal pressed down" OR 5-0 OHMS )

Re: 1996 club car power drive plus help
this is an area where i myself am still learning everything i can about controllers, but i know this, controller for that cart is expenzive and i beleive the curtis controller for 1995 thur 1997, some carts had a curtis 275 amp controller that had a black housing while others had a silver housing other than eveything was the same EXCEPT the one with the black housing was junk and cost appprox 700.00 dollars while the silver housed controllor was much more reliable but it to was very expensive......................thay make aftermart units that are 300 amps and 1/2 the cost....and you have a lot of choices compared to just a few years back , so figure out how thrick out the cart is goingto be tricked out, than pick your controller so you have enough that when your done you you don,t over bourden it.........good luck and stay away from those 2 i mentioned......................................... ..
