48V Regen cart battery level light flashes...

These electric carts aren't as easy as I thought they were... I have two carts, both seem to have the same problem.

One EZ Go, and one Club car.

I know this is the Club car section so I'll describe that one here.

99 48V Club car. Leave it on the charger all night, charger is showing 3 or so amps, measure pack voltage and i'm at 51.7. Batteries are a year old, water level good, each battery measures at 8.47+ volts.The cart runs great, no issue, seems all is fine. But here is the problem, the led gauge is reading the lowest light and flashes to the one bar above. At night time, bright lights (using a 48v-12V reducer).

Aren't these gauges just a simple meter? If the battery pack is 50+ volts, and the connections are good, what can make a gauge flash? It's wired directly to the batteries, no computer telling it what to do. I have to assume it's a bad gauge. I just hate throwing darts at this stuff.

a good set of 8 volt fully charged batts should put you in the 55 + volt range are you unplugging the charger when it sits there at 3 amp? if so wait it out till it shuts off and than see what happens........................................

Thanks for the response.

Reading the "state of charge" thread, it's saying 8.47 is 100% charged on a 8v battery. 8.47 x 6 batteries = 50.82 Volts. I'm guessing 8.47 should still be pretty good, enough so the meter is not blinking at the lowest charge. Make sense? So, I'm looking at something other than a battery issue.

Any clues?

Are you talking about the yellow light on the dash?

No, I have a led battery level meter that is flashing. It just flashes between the two lowest points even with the batteries putting out 51+ volts.



Lets see if this will work.

It sounds like you have a bad cell or maybe 2 in your back.Put a multimeter across the pack and ride around stopan go and read what that meter says.It might drop to 45 volts or so.Try this and let us know the results.

One more question, if the batteries all measure good voltage (8.47), how can there be one bad cell? Wouldn't that battery voltage measure way low?

I am measuring the voltage first thing in the morning, after the charger has been plugged in all night. Maybe I should measure the voltage later in the day?
