submerged club car

I just bought a project (1999 club car, sepex, power drive plus, regen 2).
The cart was submerged in salt water during the hurricane and sat for two years, all the electrical is questionable at best! I don't know where to start, should I go back with all factory parts or completely redo the electrical with series. The motor is shot along with the solenoids and the v-glide. I do not know if the controller and on board computer are testable to see if they will still work. Are they sealed units? The rest of the cart is in great condition and i believe worth the $500 I paid. I guess the question is should I gut it and start over or restore to original? Any advise would be appreciated.

and after sitting for a few years, after being in salt water not a good deal

I agree,I live near the atlantic ocean and when it fllods golf cars they are usually junk.I dont mean to rain on your parade ,But I think you got taken.

I do not doubt your knowledge and lesson learned! Now what, factory or different after market equipment?
PS, not telling wife how much I'm gonna spend! LOL

There is no reason to go back to original when you have so much to change out! Get it all apart and clean out everything. The motor is toast if it was submerged and never rinsed out, worth scrap for copper and that's about it. The controller is not worth risking, get a new one (read: better) and the throttle obviously. As long as the wife doesn't know, we'll help you spend as much money as you can make!!

Just remember that this is a big project, just short of restoring a classic car in some respects. If you are going to do it right, have fun. If you are going to do it quick, trade the soaker for something that is already running.

Thanks arcitech. I'm sure there is something out there that is more simple and better than original factory! I'm new to electric carts so any suggestions would be great!
