Considering Converting Sinker to 48V
OK, 2000 DS CC, aka Sinker, resistor cart now, one solenoid, plum quick motor, 4 gauge wires. New 36V FnR switch, new V-glide, new solenoid.
Now I know to convert this over obviously I need 6 8V batteries, this is the least of my concerns. What I currently have: GE Series 700 Amp contoller (Thanks Rabbit) stock controller mounting plate 48V powerwise charger Things yet to get Heavy duty solenoid ( looking at MZJ 400 ) PB-6 throttle Larger wire and connectors Possible charger OK, can I use the powerwise charger and change the end to the proper plug without buying new charger? Do I need to change out the crows plug on cart to a 48V one? If I do this will I need to be concerned about OBC? Not sure on this, hence the reason I ask. I don't think it will work, but can the 36v stay? Will the basic Plum Quick motor handle going from 36v to 48V with a 700 amp controller, or send it in for a more aggressive rebuild. Any thoughts you all may have would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Mark |

Re: Considering Converting Sinker to 48V
I don't know of any reason you can not run 48v thru the old crows foot plug .... the contacts are certainly thicker than the newer 3 prong 48v.. You may have to fool your powerwise into coming on. I converted one to CC and had to jumper the 3rd wire in the cord to get it to run, but that was a 36v powerwise...

Re: Considering Converting Sinker to 48V
Ummm, no I wish that was the problem... Actually I tried to sell a couple a set of new batteries today, ended up selling Sinkers for about 130.00, used and they were 05's. Now I have a cart with nooooooo, go. Well this is how this came to be.

Re: Considering Converting Sinker to 48V
Well I talked with PQ yesterday regarding the purple motor I have, seems like it will handle the 700 amp controller for some amount of WOT but not constantly , not that I am surprised by this but was hoping at the same time. I talked to them about the different motors, and it seems the Executioner one will be the route to go. They stated that there are three different levels of the motor as far as torque and speed, sounds like the middle of the road will fit my application the best. It should have decent speed and decent torque. They also stated I should be able to run at or about 30+mph. My poor old cart it not going to know what hit it.

At 30 mph you are going to have steering and braking issues.
