Unhappy Electric club car power troubles

I have an 04 Electric club car. Parked it in the barn one day, went to get it out the next, and it was dead as a hammer. Charged it...nothing. Tinkered with it to best of my ability couldn't find problem. Took it to golf cart shop for repair, two months later, they tell me I have one bad battery. Got a new battery, broght her home, went 100yards...dead. Charged her up overnight and notice that my charger (which is a powerdrive 2) never goes down past 5 on the dial. At any rate, got in it after a night of charge, drove off down the road, 1/2 mile, dead! So I recheck the batteries, find another bad one (by the way Im on 48v system) get pissed and just decide if two are bad, they are all bad. So I change em out. Charge the thing up and still notice that my charger clicks on goes to 15(max) and then kicks off, then kicks on again and slowly comes down but will not go down past 5. Cart just wont hold its charge long. When I disconnect it from charger, it will run a little bit, but it wont last longer than about 10minutes before dying down. It used to last like three days! AAAAAHHHHH, I got no clue what to do. Is there something in the computer system that could be bad? Is my charger bad? I have all new batteries that have tested fine. Any help is appreciated.

Do you have a meter to take readings off your batteries and the pack? If not, go get one and check the batts before charge, after charge, when the cart won't go anymore, etc. Could be the batteries aren't the problem at all, especially if you have brand new ones and all that charging up and recharging isn't going to fix anything.

The following may sound unneeded but all is very important to get to cause of your problems. Is your 04 CC a 12 volt battery set up or a 8 volt set up, and is it a IQ model ( rocker type F&R switch below right leg rather than a lever type control in same position )? When you replaced batterys did you get new QUALITY batterys or in the case of 12 volts go with a AUTO STARTER TYPE battery or golf cart batterys? ARE YOU SURE THAT EACH BATTERY WAS WIRED CORRECTLY ( in series positive to negative of following batterys ) to give a total meter reading of 48 volts for entire pack? Did you charge batterys BEFORE RUNNING CART FOR FIRST TIME as this is very important. When you were charging batterys did you leave it on until amp rate would NOT GO ANY LOWER or did you just run it for some hours and assume you had a good charge because it didnt go any lower amp rate and unhook? You were correct to think that bad batterys will cause OBC to not allow charger too turn off. The OBC controls the charge rate of your POWER DRIVE 2 charger and will do a very good job, far superior to timed chargers. Did you go to STICKIES and try the title and do "Resetting The OBC" this may solve your problem and is worth a try over the costs of a new OBC ( Price from Golf Carts Direct for DS model #101909913 $235.08 each plus shipping ) One of the clues to defective OBC ( on board computer ) is when batterys are good and charger will not go below a certain amp amount.

i replaced with energizer batteries. I have 6 batteries , 8volts each, total of 48volt system. My cart number is AA0435-425567, it does not have the switch for fow. reverse, its a twist leaver thing. I have had the cart pluged in all morning and still the powerdrive 2 meter is at 5. Yesterday the charger would kick off after about 40min even though the meter still showed 5, so I'd unplug it, let it rest, and plug it back in and same thing. get to 5 and hold. just retested each battery while on charger, range from 10v to 8.5, but the total system on charge is 62. when you unhook charger you get a reading of 52.

52v off the charger should run the cart further than 100 yards and it should start feeling weak before it just dies in any case. Have you checked the pack voltage after the cart stops going to see if the batts are discharging? If the cart dies and you are still showing decent voltage, you have another problem somewhere.

well, i think i for sure have problems. Question is where. Cart charged, still cut off at 5 on the charger but charged for about 3 hours (used to cut off after 30 min). Checked each battery got 8.3 to 8.6 volts on all of them total of 52.7 v on the system. went to ride....slow as hell like it was out of juice. retested, got 51.8 volts on system. tried to reset to OBC and the step that says you will hear your reverse buzzer, I didn't (the buzzer does work) but went through the steps to reset the computer anyways. Hooked her back up and same thing..slow as hell. Do I need an OBC, or other part? If I do need an OBC I got no idea which one i need and could I get one to put a little speed in the cart? Thanks. I guess by the end of this I'll be an uncertified club car man. jody

Can't help you with OBC - I'm still learning myself here. But you should and probably can eliminate your batteries as the issue if they are still showing good voltage even after the cart quits.

don't know what regan breaking is, so I'll say no but if it refers to just plain ole brakes, no they are not sticking. it rolls fine when you push the cart.

whats your F&R look like is it the lever or the rocker switch, how many solenoids 1 or 2...........
